PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

Quaboag Youth Baseball & Softball, to be referred to as QYBS, has adopted this Player Code of Conduct Policy with the goal of promoting positive behavior and interaction among players, coaches, managers, umpires and spectators and to ensure an enjoyable atmosphere for all participants. This Code of Conduct is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of rules. All players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is above and beyond respectful to others and reflects good sportsmanship.

As a player of QYBS, the following “Expectation of Conduct” will apply at all QYBS games, practices and all other league related activities:

1)      I will attend every practice and game that I can and will notify my coach if I cannot.

2)      I will do my very best to listen and learn from my coaches.

3)      I will do my very best in school.

4)      I will respect league officials, fans, coaches, umpires and other players.

5)      I will respect decisions made by league officials.

6)      I will not interfere in any way with the playing of the game.

7)      I will positively support all players in every way possible.

8)      I will refrain from profanity or display anger that draws attention away from the game.

9)      I will not demean, intimidate, verbally abuse or threaten any other players.

10)   I will not confront, argue or threaten any coach, umpire or league official.

11)   I will treat competition as a game and keep winning in its proper place.

12)   I will not criticize officials in any way or show displays of anger with an official’s call.

13)   I will encourage all players to display good sportsmanship, fair play and appropriate behavior at all times.

14)   I will support the rules and regulations of QYBS.

15)   I will conduct myself appropriately at all QYBS games, practices and activites.

16)   I will remember that sports are an opportunity to learn and have fun.

Any player who does not conform to the “Expectations of Conduct” may be subject to penalties levied at the sole discretion of the QYBS Board of Directors such as but not limited to, verbal warning, removal from game and termination of season.

ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

QYBS will implement a “Zero Tolerance” policy for any behavior deemed violent in nature. For the purpose of this policy, violence includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Any person that commits a violent offense will be banned from QYBS events for the remainder of that season. His/her Child(ren) may also be removed from QYBS for the remainder of that season, subject to a review and determination by the QYBS Board of Directors. All league fees will be non-refundable for any violation of this policy.

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

As a parent of QYBS, the following “Expectation of Conduct” will apply at all QYBS games, practices and all other league related activities:

1.       I will not force my child to participate in sports.

2.       I will have my players at practices and games on time. If there are circumstances that will prevent this, I will communicate this to the coach in a timely manner.

3.       I will learn the rules of the game and encourage my child to play by them.

4.       I will encourage my child to practice during their free time.

5.       I will respect my player’s coaches, teammates, opponents, spectators, and umpires.

6.       I will be respectful of my coach’s decisions. Remember they are the ones that are putting in the extra time and effort.

7.       I will ask how I can help our coaches out at practices and games.

8.       I will not yell at players, coaches, spectators or umpires. Any parents that cannot refrain from such behavior will be asked to leave.

9.       I understand the use of Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs will not be tolerated.

10.   I am responsible for my guests and any behavior that may break this code of conduct.

11.   I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth, not adults.

12.   I will teach  my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.

13.   I will praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard, and make my child feel like a winner every time.

14.   I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games or practices unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.

Children learn best by example, be supportive of both teams when good plays are made.
